Q: Prescription Medications?
Why is it that when you go to a pharmacy to fill a script, that they always offer you a cheaper brand of that medication. I have discovered that even if they claim it is the same drug, and can have different effects on me. I think it may have the same active ingredient, but perhaps a different carrier - I am not sure. What is the legality of all this. Do the manufacturers have to have a certain percentage of the same ingredient, or what? I don't understand how they can legally sell it to serve a purpose, when it may not actually do what t is supposed to do. Does anyone know what the laws are about this? I usually always say yes to the hceaper brand, becuase I understand it is the same and don't care either way as long as it works, but I can tell you it is not psycholoical when I am actually having seisures using one brand, after i have been taking the original for months without a problem.

A: In my case it's our medical insurance that requires the Pharmacy to use a generic if available. We pay a higher co-pay for meds that don't have a generic available. And you are right about the generics not having exactly the same ingredients. They will always have the same main ingredient but, the rest of the composition can vary widely. If you had a bad reaction to a generic after having good results with a brand name it may be that you could not tolerate one of the inactive, or filler ingredients. For you, taking the brand name would be a medical necessity and your doctor can write a letter to your insurance company stating that.

Q: What happends when i lie about what prescription medications i take?
for a drug test pre-screening for work, where the job has good health insurance. can i goto the pharmacy linked to the hospital i work at, and transfer my prescription refills? will everything be alright? i didnt think they needed to know, i didnt want them to know about all my anti-depressants, sleep medications

A: from a recovering alcohoics point of view....a drug is a drug is a drug! I take a medication for adult hyer-active attention deficit. While attending an out-patient program on my own, with script from doctor, and 100% honesty about taking it, i knew it would show. I take it because I need it why lie? as long as it is taken as directed and not being abused (results from testing) i guess ask. If you were diabetic and needed insulin to a productive individual....wouldn't you take something that would make you better? Mental illness is serious and can be controlled with the right meds. Don't feel bad for something you didn't ask for. good-luck life is way to short! there are 2 days out of the week that you have no control of and that was yesterday and tomorrow.

Q: Does anybody know where to buy prescription medications online?
I need a cheap, easy, reliable website to buy prescription medications online. Hopefully one that sells meds such as Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, or Xanax.

A: http://www.pharmacy-noprescription.com/

Q: I need someone that lives in Jamaica in answer this question about legal prescription medications in Jamaica?
My fiancee and I are travelling to Jamaica at the beginning of January to be married. He has a medical condition and takes many different prescription medications. So I need someone that lives in Jamaica to tell me if his meds are legal in Jamaica. He takes "MS Contin", this is a type of morphine. He also takes Demerol. Does anyone know if these are legal there? He takes more than that but those are the only ones we are worried about.

A: Contrary to the beliefs of the IGNORANT answerer, you CAN be checked for drugs when coming in to Jamaica. usually they are looking for party drugs such as X, disguised as other things. As far as prescription drugs are concerned, the general rule is that you should carry proof that they are prescribed by your doctor. Proof may include, 1. Copies of the prescription. 2. Having the drugs in thier original labelling, written in your name (with pharmacists instructions attached). 3. A medical certificate or letter outlining your illness and the drugs prescribed. Once you have this proof, your are unlikely to be hassled. This is a general policy with regards to prescription drugs.

Q: If I have taken prescription medications can I say I haven't to get into the military?
I have taken prescription medications for anxiety within the last year, but I don't want to wait another year to join the military, is there anyway I could just say that I haven't and still join without a problem?

A: Lying should never be an option. Tell the truth and ask about waivers. Values are an important part of military life with Integrity being a core value.

Q: What is the best way to treat bipolar disorder without prescription medications?
My huband was recently diagnosed and I read somewhere that people on prescription medication for bipolar or depression have a suicide rate three times greater than those that are not on prescription medication.

A: Hi Joanna Royal, Here is an ebook I came across that talks about how to cope with bipolar disorder. It will probably be helpful for both you and your husband. Sells for only $17.00. See the link below for more details. Good luck

Q: Prescription medications that makes you loose weight?
I'll get the medication, you provide the answer :P what prescription meds can decrease your appetite, or weight loss?

A: i took adderal a couple times and it made me loose my appetite. it didnt make me crazy or anything either cuz its ADD med, so yay. get that :)

Q: Is there any way to check or test your Prescription medications for authenticity?
There have been rumors going around that some pharmacy as well as online pharmacy has been recieiving and selling fake prescription medication. Is there any sources or ways to check or test your medication for authenticity? And what procedures for reporting it if your medication is not what it suppose to be?

A: Asking for a license (which is required to be conspicuously posted) does nothing to ensure the integrity of the medicines you are buying. All Pharmacies are licensed. Nobody would be so brazen to open up without it. Besides they cannot receive medications from wholesalers without a license. Ask them which wholesalers they use. National wholeslaers maintain a pedigree on every lot of medication they receive. That guarantees that you aren't getting counterfeit medicines. Where Pharmacies get into trouble is when alternative 'wholesalers' make unsolicited calls offering deep discounts on popular brands. Many times they are selling counterfeit drugs. mail-order is safe. These internet pharmacies that are located in 'God only knows'.........you decide

Q: Is there anything I can do with prescription medications I don't use?
I have medications that didn't work out for me... I get migraines & depression, and they have tested me on certain drugs-that just didn't work right. Most the medications, I have bought with my own money (with insurance) and then, I have SAMPLE packs given to my by the doctor. I have them stored up in my house because I can not bear to throw them away knowing that so MANY people can not afford to pay for prescriptions, yet I am pretty sure I can not advertise them for someone to take-- b/c they are prescription and I am not a doctor.... Is there any place that take donations of that sort? I have blood pressure medication, medication that treats depression, and medications that treat seizures... They are all still "good", as I am STILL in the process of finding the right combo. It sucks to just throw them away, I know people struggle to pay for these EXACT medications. Just curious, if anyone had a suggestion.

A: In Australia, we can take them back to the pharmacist where they have a program where it can be sent to third world countries etc. Ask your pharmacist.

Q: Would a smoking cure such as prescription medications and hypnosis also force me to quit marijuana?
I smoke marijuana recreationally but I also currently smoke cigarettes which I would like to quit. I have been considering trying the prescription medications or hypnosis treatments available, but would first like to know if those options would also inadvertently force me to quit marijuana.

A: your a complete idiot aren't you???? Do us all a favor and just go away and never return.

Q: Is it legal to receive mail containing Paxil or any prescription medications in Korea from the U.S.?
I will be teaching English in Seoul for six months and have a prescription for Paxil in the States. I was going to have my Rx refilled then mailed to me in Korea. Is this legal to receive prescription medications sent by mail in South Korea?

A: I have heard mixed results, with some actually receiving the package with medication and others having problems with customs. Therefore I'd advise against it. If you do bring medication, you are better off only bringing two months with you in your luggage. Any school you sign up with should provide you with National Health Insurance (it is required by law) and give you a health insurance card. Paxil is available here in Korea. You will need to go specifically to a psychiatrist and may need to have someone to translate the first time. Most importantly DON'T tell your school you are on Paxil. I can't stress this enough. Some people here will not understand the fact that you need the medication and this could lead to problems with your school. This is based on my direct experience (we'll leave it at that). The doctors visit should cost no more then 15,000 KRW and the medication about 60,000 KRW a month. Currently the exchange rate is $1=1,311 Won

Q: Endless problems with prescription medications. Do you have medication issues too?
I have, what seems, neverending problems with prescription medications. Currently, I'm having problems finding an antidepressant that works. Because of the extent of the problems finding medications that my body will not reject, I've turned to others with similar problems. I have been searching for an effective antidepressant. I know this is common with many patients and it may take awhile to find the right medication or right combinations. But, after years of trying nearly all medications (yes, even than one!), I either give up, or look for people who has similar issues. Luckly, there are lots of people like me. The sad part is that many just give up. My question: I've found a genetic test to help find the best medication based on certain genetic makeups which explains why some medications just don't work? Have you tried this genetic testing (at the Mayo Clinic) and has it helped you?.

A: I don't know about genetic research but you obviously sound like a candidate for it. And the ones who think those of us don't need medication who are you to say so? You are not in our bodies to feel our depression and our fears and anxieties we don't make it up. It isn't like getting upset because our damn car won't start. It doesn't go away by just having faith. Don't judge other people unless you have walked in their shoes. And Randy I hope you find the correct medication for you.

Q: If ALL prescription medications were allowed to become OTC,would we really see a major increase in drug abuse?
First off, a certain percentage of the population will always abuse some sort of drug legal or illegal. The controlled prescription drugs, (Vicodin, Oxycontin, Xanax, Valium etc), if these drugs were available at the local Wallgreens but without a prescription, would we then have a nation of drug addicts? It seems to me that, yes, initially we would see an increase in problems, but because of the now OTC status of these drugs, we would not see the major criminal aspects involved with obtaining the illegal variety, because people would now have a steady supply, and not need to go on the streets. Now obviously this is similar to just legalizing all curentlly illegal drugs,(cocaine, METH etc.), but these drugs have no acceptable medical value, and are very dangerous, so they shouldn't be legalized. But the medications that DO have medical value, could perhaps be available OTC, and maybe this would cut down on the abuse of the illegal variety. What do you think?

A: we would see a large increase in abuse.... of the narcotics that you can leglly get by prescription now. We would also see a lot of people self-prescribing the wrong medications and killing themselves by accident. Let the Doctor tell you which drug you need to cure your illness. (unless its obvious such as mild indigestion)

Q: Why are prescription medications so expensive these days?
What were the reasons prescription medications so expensive without insurance? I have a prescription medicine named Cosopt that cost me $50.00 per 5 ml bottle WITH insurance (they only paid some of it, but I forked out $50.00 each month), that I have to take daily. There are no generic with Cosopt, unfortunately. I also noticed that other people at the pharmacy had to pay over $100.00 for their medications, and my mother had to pay over $100.00 for her cholesterol medication (yes, only one each!) that she has to take the rest of her life, and yes she has insurance. I wish they would lower the cost of prescription medication and stop ripping us off. *shakes head* What were the reason why they cost so much money though?

A: The official line from the pharmaceuticals is that they need to recover costs involved in pharmaceutical research. Many consumer groups, however, contest this and say the profits are way out of line. btw Suffice it to say that there is also something known as natural or alternative medicine; some have had positive results. You can find plenty of info pro and con. (Obviously I am talking about some specific prescription drugs, not prescription medications in general.) Of course only an MD is qualified to prescribe and oversee prescription medications. 1 min. ago--some of these especially the newer ones are marketed rather aggressively--ads on prime time tv & 2 pg ads in magazines like Time & Newsweek--you can imagine the advertising budgets--they always say ask your doctor about such & such--as a result people see their physician to inquire about such & such a drug, sometimes putting the physician in a difficult position (like they have already made up their minds that this med is right for them)

Q: Where can I legally buy prescription medications?
I am looking for a reputable site that sells prescription drugs, since I am fairly broke and have no health insurance my requirements are: No Prescription required, No hidden "doctor consulation fees", Reasonably priced, Must cover the whole spectrum of pharmaceuticals (ie; controlled substances) Legal would be nice. I am not looking to sell drugs to school kids!! I simply have a wide range of injuries, allergies, anxieties, etc etc that I have been diagnosed but can not afford to see a physician regularly to obtain the prescriptions, let alone afford to buy these medications every month. I have done online searches and I am scared to use these, I don't want to go to jail! If teenagers out there can find these sites and purchase Vicodins and Valiums, why can't I find them? I *actually* need medication like that for my Bi-Polar disorder, herniated L5 disc, but because I can't afford it I am left with out treatment, in pain and obviously crazy for posting this question!!

A: RIIIIIIGHT. Can you say DRUG SEEKING? You can't buy them LEGALLY without a prescription. Hello....the DEA is now watching you. You say you can't afford to go to the doctor to get them legally, but you are ready to go to JAIL to get them illegally? Explain that one to me?
