Q: Seasonal allergies?
I have seasonal allergies like many do, ichy eyes, stuffy nose, etc.
Is there a good way to help with the symptoms, a good of the counter medicine medicine perhaps?
A: Zyrtec is a new over-the-counter medication that was recently a prescription. Claritin is also another OTC medication that used to be a prescription.
Benadryl also works well, but makes most people pretty sleepy. It is an antihistimine, which means that it works to "dry you up" and make your nose stop running.
A decongestant does exactly what the name says -- it "decongests" you so that you can breathe freely. Nasal sprays like Afrin are excellent for unclogging your nasal passages, but aren't to be used on a daily basis.
If your nose is red and sore from blowing it, a little Vaseline on it before you go to bed will help it feel better in the morning.
Drink plenty of water, as water helps thin out the mucus in your head, and you won't feel as clogged up.
Good luck -- I know EXACTLY how you feel!!!
Q: Seasonal Allergies?
I have really bad seasonal allergies and I have tried many medicines but not many seem to work. What medicine works for you guys?
A: You can get a seasonal allergy shot. Sometimes once a month is necessary.
Right now the Red Bud's are blooming and can make many people real sick.
See your doctor in the meantime try mucinex dm. It really helps clear things up.
Q: seasonal allergies!!?
I have seasonal allergies and my eyes get red and all watery and itchy, and my nose gets itchy & red, plus, my throat itches. I've tried all the fancy pills, eye drops, nose sprays, etc...but they don't work? SOS! I'm in PAIN!
A: Prescriptions? Allegra, Zyrthech, etc?
Have you consulted an allergist?
Q: Can seasonal allergies cause you to feel nauseous?
Hi! Is it possible to feel nauseous with seasonal allergies? This is the first summer that I have seem to have allergies. I am sneezing a lot, but it's been several weeks, and it doesn't feel like a cold or flu. But I've also been sick to my stomach often first thing in the morning. It comes on very suddenly, before I've eaten or drank anything yet. Sometimes it's just dry-heaving, and sometimes am physically sick. Anyone ever had that associated with allergies before? Thanks!
A: HI Princess,
The short answer to your question is yes. Seasonal allergies can cause you to feel nauseous. The details of how and why this happens are given below.
Seasonal allergies generally cause allergic rhinitis. Some people also get hives, sneezes, bought of cough, clogged noses, runny noses and red noses from wiping their noses dry.
The posterior part of the nose in connected to the eustachian tubes of the ear. You know that the ear is also a sense of balance. When the allergic reaction due to season allergies spreads to the ears it causes the nauseousness and also the dizziness.
You may read more about blocked noses here. I wrote this article about blacked noses under my pen name which is Shergill.

Q: My poor dog has seasonal allergies. Any home remedies I am can give her?
I have an Akita mix, and I have read that they are more likely to get seasonal allergies. But every year about this time she just scratches and scratches. I have given her oatmeal baths, which seems to help for a bit. I have thought about giving her just regular old benedryl, but I am not sure how much to give (she weighs maybe 50 lbs). Any suggestions for either home remedies or products I can buy to help her? I am having a temp money crunch and cant afford to take her to the vet at this moment.
A: i have the same problem with my husky it is a long battle with him and it startes around june/july and he is still suffering. he weighs 96 lbs and the vet says i can give him up to 3 benadryl a day. he has been on prenisone for a few mths which really helps but the side effects are peeing a lot and thirst. i bought him some oatmeal conditioner that you rub on his skin and leave on it soothes his spots also i changed his diet to lamb and rice mix and cut out beef, pork, chicken etc and only give it to him when i cook it.try to keep your dog out of long grass, weeds and wet areas on the ground as it triggers his itch. i just started walking him again since it got cooler and he is happy but is still scratching but not as bad. prenisone is a good source of relief and your best bet is to take her in and get the right meds for her, but you can start with the benadryl and see if it helps and the oat baths are good too. good luck.
Q: How to deal with seasonal allergies and hay fever?
Pollen is everywhere! I can't escape it, and neither can the millions of people who suffer from seasonal allergies like I do. I've always got a stuffy nose, and perpetually itchy/watery/red eyes during the Spring season.
For my fellow allergy sufferers out there, how do you deal with it?
Know of any effective allergy medicines? (Claritin has stopped working for me!)
How can I keep my eyes from getting so irritated?
Thanks in advance, :-)

Q: What do I do about my horrible seasonal allergies?
I have seasonal allergies to tree and grass pollen and ragweed, and they've been really bad this year. I almost always have a sinus headache, and my nose is constantly stuffy and my throat is sometimes sore. I take an over-the-counter medicine, but it doesn't seem to help much. What else can I do?
A: go see a doctor. You shouldn't be this miserable. I use Zyrtec and Flonase (which is now generic) for my allergies. When the ragweed comes out in about a month I'll also have to add my prescription eye drops, or I'll give myself conjunctivitis. There's many medications out there for allergies, there's no reason to suffer if the otc stuff isn't working for you.
Q: Are seasonal allergies a disqualification for the Marine Corps?
I get seasonal allergies in spring from pollen.
My eyes water and I sneeze. Is this going to be a problem?
If not, when they send me to combat, will allergy medication be available to me if I need it?
A: Allergic Rhinitis is only disqualifying if it cannot be controlled by oral medications.
Q: What do you take for your seasonal allergies?
Benadryl has stopped working, and Claritin doesn't work at all for my seasonal allergies. I recently started taking Zyrtec and it works well, but exacerbates my spinal osteoarthritis pain. My next step is the doctor for an Rx, but it'd be great to go in there armed with a list of possible meds. What works for you?
A: i used to take piriton, but i felt it wasn't doing any good,so now i take Zyrtek,ad find it much more effective. Doesn't stop my symptms completely, but does help.
Q: How Important Is Resting When It Comes To Getting Over Seasonal Allergies?
Maybe i will get an answer this time?
Do you need more sleep and more rest when trying to get over seasonal allergies or does it not matter, since you aren't really sick?
A: Rest is always important to feel well. I take daily Alavert and it does not make me drowsy and I get great relief. Just let it melt under your tongue once a day.
Q: Natural ways to fight seasonal allergies without meds?
It's Spring where I live now and the seasonal allergies are doing a number on me. I usually take Claritine but I'm really wanting to get away from taking medication if I can help it.
Does anyone know of any safe and natural ways to relieve seasonal allergies without taking pills?
A: I heard to go buy local honey from near by so i has the same pollens you encounter on a daily basis and eat a spoonful of it everyday for a week and it should get better. Keep doing it and it will stay away is what I heard...I guess you could say im doing the clinical study right now. I am trying this method so other than that...claritin is your best friend.
Q: What do you like reduce seasonal allergies?
I'm pretty much allergic from April until we have heavy frosts (October usually)
I already take gobs of Vitamin C - what else do you guys like from personal experience for seasonal allergies?
Luckily, I dont get the runny nose/eyes thing, but rather my nasal passages get swollen and dry nasal passages, and dry eyes etc. If that makes any difference.
Thanks
Oh, and yeah, I use a net pot ;)
A: Local honey. It has to be from within 30 miles of where you live. You can look for it online or check out a farmers market in your area. Put some in a coffee mug and add juice from a lemon and boiling water then drink it.
Q: How to soothe plugged ears/ear pain associated with seasonal allergies?
I have seasonal allergies and with the pollen count being so high, my ears are totally plugged and it's getting painful. I've tried Sudafed and Ibuprofen and neither are giving much relief. Any other suggestions???
A: yes you are masking your allergies. First know what allergies you have, peanuts, plants, cat dander, horse danger, dogs, hay, dust, mold, perfumes, strawberries etc, note the varieties. Next if it is nasal I would suggest Flonase nasal spray or ask you General Practitioner about it. Next if this has not cleared you nasal passages up, you might need antibiotics, see the Doc, also hears generally clear up if you use the right drugs. Hope this helps.
Q: Is there a topical spray or cream for dogs to ease skin irritation from seasonal allergies?
My 2 yr old springer spaniel has seasonal allergies. Food allergy as been ruled out. He receives monthly cortisone shots and daily benedryl to control but he can still get quite red and irritated on belly and chest at times; and always after a bath. Scratching and licking causes hair loss. Is there any safe topical sprays to use during severe outbreaks?
A: I note that you have ruled food allergies out, nevertheless the experts now say that we should NEVER FEED GRAIN. I shower my dog with warm water when she gets dirty, however I don't use shampoo. She smells and looks clean and gets a proper bath about once a year. If your dog has problems after a bath, don't bath him.
I will copy the info that I have on grain free foods. In all of this remember that vets want dogs to have shots and medications thats how they make their profits. PLEASE DO CONSIDER A CHANGE OF DIET AND PERHAPS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO STOP THE MEDICATION.
•I have learnt by my mistakes. My present dog had dreadful problems because of the food which I gave her, I experimented with dog food, I tried raw diets, cooked diets and over the years I tried various dog foods. She did not like the raw diets and the dog food that I gave her resulted in diarrhea. As an experienced dog owner I introduced any changes gradually. Nevertheless my dog still had problems. She was eight years old before I resolved her problem.
Eventually, because of my researches on the Internet I found that the experts have discovered that GRAIN in our dog’s diet causes many problems. I now know that grain creates acidity in the blood. This causes skin problems, sickness, diarrhea, anal gland problems etc.,
if your dog has skin problems or any of the above problems PLEASE CHANGE THE DIET. Avoid Grain, rice, beef derivatives and dairy food
I now give my dog a dried food which uses beet for fiber and fish. It’s called Fish4Dogs and I buy it on the Internet. Look on the Internet and investigate yourself. Gluten free dog food is not enough to help our dogs, it MUST BE GRAIN FREE.
A rapid change of diet will upset your dog; any change of diet must be done gradually. Do please change to a grain free diet. I have had sixteen dogs throughout the years and they have had various problems. Perhaps if I had known about the dangers of GRAIN they would have had fewer problems.
EDIT, I DO HOPE THAT YOU TRY SOMETHING GRAIN FREE, HOWEVER IF YOU WANT TO TRY A TOPICAL SPRAY, COLLOIDAL SILVER IS EXCELLENT. .
